National Productivity Council (NPC) in collaboration with the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, organized a 5-Day’s Lean Manufacturing Consultant Training Program that was successfully concluded on 31st October 2025.
The program was organized by National Productivity Council (NPC) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The training was conducted from 27th to 31st October 2025. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Mr. Ashok Kumar, Regional Director, NPC Chandigarh, and Mr. Suvyendu Shivakar, Deputy Director, NPC, Prof. R. M. Belokar (Head, PIED-PEC); Prof. Umesh Sharma (Dean SRIC). Professor Rajesh Bhatia appreciated the importance of such capacity building programs for industry at large, specifically to the MSME sector.
This specialized training program was conducted under the MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme (MCLS) of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. It aimed to build a robust network of certified consultants equipped to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting Lean Manufacturing practices — a transformative approach focused on enhancing productivity, reducing waste, and improving global competitiveness. The key highlight of the program was the interactive expert sessions delivered by professionals from NPC, PEC faculty, industry consultants, and experienced entrepreneurs, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of Lean methodologies and practical implementation strategies.
