PEC Students Shine with ₹61 LPA Offer in a Stellar Placement Season

Placements at PEC 2024-25: The Career Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC) at
Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, successfully
concluded the Internship & Placement Cycle for the academic year 2024-25 with
remarkable outcomes, reinforcing PEC’s growing legacy of academic and industrial
excellence.
2024-25 witnessed participation from over 160 multinational and top-tier companies,
including Uber, Microsoft, JP Morgan & Chase, Goldman Sachs, Texas Instruments,
Arcesium, Cisco, American Express, ZS Associates, Maruti Suzuki, Airbus, Infosys,
Micron Semiconductor, and many others. Additionally, the office has been instrumental for
introducing 30+ new recruiters for PEC students, such as Blinkit, Tick2Trade, Chegg,
Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), RP Sanjeev Goenka Group, FNZ Group, Stable Money,
Perfetti Van Melle, Vectorial AI, UBS Group, and Usha International, further diversifying
the placement landscape.

 

Key Highlights:
Overall, 2024-25 experienced an impressive 18% year-over-year increase in placement
offers. This year, PEC observed a notable 17% surge in placements in core engineering
sectors, and an even stronger 28% surge in non-core related roles. Circuital branches (CSE,
EE, ECE) witnessing a 12% rise in number of offers. Non-circuital branches registered
remarkable growth as well, with Mechanical Engineering seeing a 70% increase,
Metallurgical and Materials Engg up by 47%, and Civil Engineering experiencing a 15%
growth in placements this year.

Compensation Range Analysis:
The highest package offered stood at ₹61.02 LPA by a multinational company to three
students from circuital branches, while another company extended the second- highest
offer of ₹52.00 LPA to six students for SDE roles. The overall average package of 2024-25 

reached to ₹13.6 LPA, while the median CTC was ₹12.0 LPA.
In terms of CTC distribution, notably, 14 students received offers in the ₹30– 40 LPA
range, further underlining the high-quality opportunities secured by PEC students. 40
students were placed with packages between ₹20–30 LPA, 59 students in the ₹15–20 LPA
bracket, and 187 students in the ₹10–15 LPA range. These outcomes underscore PEC's
increasing appeal among premium recruiters offering high-value roles across multiple
sectors.

 

Branch-Wise Performance:
Among the branches, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stood out with the highest
average average of ₹16.7 LPA, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering
(ECE) at ₹15.6 LPA, and Electrical Engineering (EE) at ₹12.9 LPA. The highest package
offered across all departments was ₹61.0 LPA, received by students from both CSE and
ECE.
In terms of year-on-year trends, ECE registered a 6% increase in average CTC and a 45%
jump in the highest package. CSE, EE, ECE, Mechanical, and Metallurgical branches
recorded double-digit growth in the number of students placed, indicating stronger
recruitment traction across core and technology-driven domains.
Domain-wise, the hiring trend revealed strong demand in software and product roles.
Software Development Engineer (SDE) positions increased by 32% year-over- year, while
product management roles rose by 31%. Sectors such as education and management
also witnessed significant spikes, with growth rates of 67% and 78% respectively.

 

Internship Highlights (2024-25):
The Internship Cycle for the session 2024-25 at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to
be University), Chandigarh, has also seen exceptional outcomes, reflecting the strong trust
recruiters place in PEC’s talent pool with a total of 292 internship offers made. The
average monthly stipend stood at ₹43,894, with a median of ₹25,000.

 

Breakdown of High Stipend Offers:
The highest stipend offered was ₹1.87 lakh per month for a Software Development role,
secured by six students. Five students received stipends of ₹1.5 lakh per month from
prominent global firms, while another five students interning at top-tier multinational
companies in the IT domain were offered ₹1.25 lakh per month. Additionally, 19
students received stipends around ₹1 lakh per month. About 20 students earned monthly
stipends ranging between ₹75,000 and ₹80,000, while 29 students were offered stipends in
the ₹50,000 to ₹70,000 range.

Furthermore, 120 students received Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), including 17 who
successfully converted their internships into full-time roles with compensation packages
ranging between ₹30 and ₹52 LPA. The highest full-time offer through PPOs reached
₹61.02 LPA. This strong internship performance highlights not only the academic
excellence but also the industry-readiness of PEC students. It also underscores the growing
trend of internships serving as a direct pipeline to final placements, with PPOs becoming a
significant channel for talent acquisition among top recruiters.
With a growing recruiter base, diversified profiles, and an increasingly competitive
compensation structure, PEC continues to strengthen its stature as a preferred institute for
industry leaders. The seamless coordination between academia and industry, supported by
PEC's Career Development and Guidance Centre, remains instrumental in these
achievements.
