Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, successfully concluded its week-long Orientation Program for the B.Tech. batch 2025–29, which opened with the wisdom and guidance of eminent dignitaries and closed on a vibrant note with student club showcases.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Padma Shri Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Board of Governors, PEC & Founder, Trident Group; Shri R.K. Tyagi, Chairman & Managing Director, PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd.; Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Ad-Interim Director PEC; Col. R.M. Joshi, Registrar; Dr. D.R. Prajapati, Dean Students’ Affairs; Prof. Uma Batra, Dean Faculty Affairs, along with Deans, Heads of Departments, and senior faculty members.

In his motivational address, Shri Rajinder Gupta emphasized the importance of developing both intellect and character. He remarked, PEC can give you knowledge, but wisdom you have to find on your own. PEC will prepare you as a technocrat; however, becoming a good individual, a true leader, and a bearer of values is a journey you must undertake yourself.” His words resonated deeply with the freshers, inspiring them to look beyond academics and strive towards becoming responsible, value-driven individuals.

Shri R.K. Tyagi, an illustrious alumni of PEC, expressed heartfelt pride in returning to his alma mater. Sharing his mantra of the Three Cs—Curiosity, Courage, and Compassion—he urged students to remain inquisitive in their pursuit of knowledge, face failures with courage, and cultivate compassion to make the world a better place. His inspiring message instilled a sense of purpose and resilience among the young entrants.

The Orientation also featured a memorable session by Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, Co-founder (India) and Global CTO of AA2IT, who encouraged students to dream of building Indian tech ecosystems at par with global giants. Introducing the idea of “Bhartiya GPT”, he highlighted the importance of embedding Indian ethos into AI and innovation, drawing lessons from epics such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

The valedictory session witnessed an electrifying atmosphere as PEC’s student clubs and societies welcomed the freshers with creative presentations, quizzes, performances, and interactive activities. From robotics and coding to dramatics, music, and social service, the wide array of clubs showcased the opportunities awaiting students beyond classrooms, fostering leadership, creativity, and teamwork.

Throughout the week, the Orientation Program blended academic familiarization, industry insights, cultural values, and student engagement, providing freshers with a holistic introduction to PEC’s ecosystem. The B.Tech. batch of 2025–29 stood more confident, inspired, and connected—ready to embark on their journey at PEC while carrying forward its enduring legacy of knowledge, innovation, values, and character-building.
