With profound grief, we inform the sad passing away of Sh Vinod Kumar Lamba (MS No.SNV-785), father of Mr Shirom Lamba (MS No.G-7191) and brother of Mr Anil Lamba (MS No. P-491) on 21st September 2025.

Cremation will take place on Monday, 22nd September 2025, at 5:30 pm at the Cremation Ground, Sector 25, Chandigarh.

Really grieved and shocked to see my closest friend and batchmate Er Vinod Lamba PEC63 C leaving for heavenly abode. He was my classmate in Government College Chandigarh and thereafter batchmate in PEC Chandigarh. We were both living in sector 22 and he used to take me on bike to Government College Chandigarh and thereafter on motor bike to Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh. We stayed in simla in summer of 1962 in house of Er Parmar one year senior to us and with Er RP Kumar. All old memories are fresh in my mind as it happened today and I am going to miss him badly. God bless his soul may Rest In Peace and give strength to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss. He was gem of a person and a sincere friend and leaves a void in my life.

I will always have many fond memories of Vinod. Am glad that I got to spend some time with him during our class reunion in 2023, the last time being our ride together in his car from the dinner at Shivalik View hotel to the Taj Hotel. He constantly displayed his generosity by loaning his car and driver to take people to various places during the reunion.

A  unusually lucky moment for me was to run into him (amongst a crowd of tens of thousands of people) one day in July 1965 at the New York World Fair. What a pleasant way to find old friends!

Will miss you, Vinod.

Very sad that dear Lamba has left us so abruptly. He was my next roll number. They lived in the upper floor of   Qwality restuarant ( Shop Cum Flats of those times ) in Sector 22. We were also living in one of the govt houses nearby. Many times, when I would visit him, he was busy mugging up some part of the book/ notes while walking on the back verandah of the flat.  Undoubtedly, he  had phenominal memory.  A dare devil driver on his motor bike. A very intelligent and  jolly good person with a pleasant demeanour. I have many good memories of him. My condolences to the family. Vinod Lamba’s sudden departure is deeply saddening. He was such a fit person, slim and lithe, and would have been the last candidate for a heart attack. I remember how was a champ at table tennis and billiards. The Lord bless his soul with eternal peace.

Very sad news. We had a good rappo with the Lamba Family since my childhood. They were living above the Kwality restaurant in sixties and we were at the back in govt. Houses. 

I remember when I entered the PEC in 1966, Vinod Lamba also joined the institute as an assistant professor or so. 

He returned from USA after completing his masters and brought along the elegant IMPALA Chevrolet. This car became an Icon with him in the city.
