The second day of Industry Academia Week at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, featured a series of insightful sessions organized by different departments, highlighting the synergy between academics and industry.

The Department of Electrical Engineering commenced the day’s proceedings with a session by Er. Rajiv Sapra, Ex-DGM, Delhi Transco, on “Power Trading and Working of Energy Exchange.” He explained that power can be traded or imported if the requirement exceeds 1 Mega Watt, which opens avenues to procure cheaper power. He further demonstrated real-time data from Power Distribution Stations, emphasizing how the rate of power is directly linked with frequency variations.

Following this, the Department of Production and Industrial Engineering hosted Er. Ankur, Design and Technical Head at S.C. Innovators, who conducted an engaging session on “Design–Manufacturing Synergy & A Deep Dive into CNC Machining.” Through a hands-on demonstration, he showcased the working of specialized software and its outcomes, offering students a practical perspective on design integration with modern manufacturing processes.

The day concluded with a thought-provoking session organized by the Centre for Management and Humanities, led by Dr. Parikshit Bansal, Founding Partner, Bansal IP Associates, Chandigarh, on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).” With interactive examples, Dr. Bansal explained IPR as the “creation of the mind that can be bought or sold”—covering aspects related to products, written material, and innovations. He elaborated on both the technical and practical dimensions of IPR, equipping participants with a deeper understanding of its growing importance in today’s knowledge-driven economy.

The second day of Industry Academia Week thus offered students and faculty an enriching blend of technical knowledge, industry practices, and legal awareness, reinforcing PEC’s mission to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industrial application.
