The Centre of Management & Humanities (CMH) at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh successfully organised Bombay Stock Exchange Investor Awareness Workshop on 24th March 2026.
The session was conducted by Mr. Satbir Singh, Deputy Manager at BSE Ltd. Mr. Singh has been associated with the organization since March 2017. He is responsible for branding, sales, support, and training of the BSE STAR MF platform and leads a vast network of over 2000 IFAs, including stock brokers and fintech professionals. His operational jurisdiction includes Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir.
The workshop was aimed at enhancing financial literacy and investment awareness among students, faculty, and staff. The session commenced with a formal introduction of the speaker. It was followed by a floral welcome. Dr. Anju Singla, Professor and Head, CMH, along with the coordinators of the workshop, Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Dr. Pratibha presented a potted plant to the speaker as a symbol of growth and respect.
Mr. Singh, the resource person, provided valuable insights into stock market fundamentals, financial planning, and informed investment practices. He emphasized the importance of financial literacy, understanding inflation rate, and the need for investment returns to exceed inflation in order to preserve and grow wealth. He also highlighted key aspects such as evaluating company reputation, promoter credibility, and risk assessment before investing.
Participants were introduced to various investment avenues, including equities and mutual funds, with a special focus on mutual funds as a relatively safer option for beginners. The session also covered the role of regulatory bodies like SEBI and encouraged participants to rely on credible sources such as official government platforms for financial decisions.
The workshop witnessed active participation with around 115 registered participants including faculty members, students and staff. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where attendees clarified their queries related to stock market investments and financial planning. The organization of such workshops reflect CMH’s commitment to equipping students with essential life skills and practical knowledge beyond the classroom.
