The Standing Finance Committee (PEC) of the UT administration has approved the construction of a new boys' hostel block at Punjab Engineering College (PEC). The hostel will be built on an area of 86,000 sq ft at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore. After getting approval from the administration, the tender process will be started soon, through which the qualified construction agency will be selected.
This new hostel will have a total of seven floors with a ground floor. The building will have more than 100 rooms, which will be equipped with all the facilities as per the needs of the students.
Apart from parking for 34 cars in the basement, there will also be an electrical panel room, pump room, fire pump room and two staircases.
It will be built in the hostel.
Basement: 34 car parking, 2 elevators
Ground Floor: 6 Rooms, Warden Room, 2 Guest Rooms, Medical Room, Reading Room, Store, Common Toilet, Toilet for Disabled, Dining Hall, 2 Stairs, Kitchen, Washing Area
First floor: 14 rooms, 4 common toilets, toilets for the disabled, store, common room
Second floor: 19 rooms, 4 common restrooms
Third floor: 15 rooms, 4 common toilets
4th floor: 17 rooms, 4 common restrooms
Fifth floor: 17 rooms, 4 common toilets
6th Floor: 15 Rooms, 4 Common Restrooms
