He is the recipient of a ‘Gold Medal’ for standing first in the Metallurgical Engineering in 1980. He completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1989. Presently, Dr. Mukesh is the Director, ‘Steel Research & Technology Mission of India’ and during his journey of more than 38 years he has contributed extensively in R&D, Basic Design, Engineering, Operation, Project Management, Business Development and Technology Development. At Engineers India Ltd, he was involved in the development of indigenous technology for the production of Titanium Sponge. He has worked on a number of green field and brown field projects besides preparing DLRs in the field of Non Ferrous Metallurgy and its waste management. He is regarded as country’s top technocrat in the field of Alumina Refinery because of his contribution and participation in almost all the Alumina Refineries of the country.
