Punjab Engineering College signed research MoU with Alumnus Roop Lal Mahajan

Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its esteemed alumnus, Mr. Roop Lal Mahajan. The agreement marks a significant milestone in the institution's commitment to fostering academic excellence and research in the field of Metallurgical and Material Engineering.

Mr. Mahajan, who graduated from PEC with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1964, followed by a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1969, has generously contributed Rs. 1,02,50,000/- to establish two doctoral research fellowships within the Metallurgical and Material Engineering department. The fellowships are initiated in honor of Mr. Mahajan's mother and are aptly named the "Krishna D Mahajan Doctoral Scholars Fund for Excellence in Research."

The signing ceremony took place in the Director's office at PEC, where Prof. Baldev Setia, Director of PEC, and Dr. Rajesh Kanda (Head Alumni, Corporate & International Relations) singend the MoU on behalf of Punjab Engineering College & Alumnus Roop Lal Mahajan signed the MoU being the donor. Dr. Sibby John (Deputy Director), Dr. Divya Bansal (Head CSRC), Dr. Uma Batra, and Dr. J.D. Sharma (Head MMED) Dr. Jimmy Karloopia (Professor-in-charge, ACIR), Ms. Rajinder Kaur (Alumni Relations Manager) witnessed this historic event. The event symbolizes the commitment of both parties to advancing knowledge, promoting research, and providing valuable opportunities for scholars to excel in their academic pursuits.

Dr. Baldev Setia, Director of PEC, expressed his gratitude for Mr. Mahajan's generous contribution and highlighted the importance of alumni engagement in supporting the academic growth of the institution. "We are thrilled to see our alumni, such as Mr. Roop Lal Mahajan, actively contributing to the development of PEC.
