PEC Centenary Lecture Series: “Lessons for the Millennial" by Major General Ian Cardozo

“Until I am out of bullets or I am out of Blood, I will Fight”

Ian Cardozo is someone who has lived his life by these words. Behold, as PEC returns with another enthralling lecture as a part of the PEC Centenary Lecture Series. This Vijay Divas we have with us the living legend Major General Ian Cardozo AVSM SM, the first war disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade.

Major General Ian Cardozo started his military career with flying colours after becoming the first NDA cadet to be awarded both the President’s Gold Medal and the Silver Medal. Fighting in the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, he accidentally stepped on a land mine and had to amputate his leg himself with a khukri due to inadequate medical assistance. The loss of a limb did not deter his spirit. After getting a prosthetic, he went on to become the first disabled officer to command a battalion and was later promoted to Brigadier. His inspiring story opened the gates for other disabled personnel who weren’t allowed to rejoin the forces.

The real-life hero will be with us on 16th December at 7:00 PM IST, sharing his life experiences and giving “Lessons for the Millennial".
