10th December stands as a reminder to reaffirm the importance of human rights in re-building the world we want, the need for global solidarity as well as our interconnectedness and shared humanity. As we successfully move forward with the PEC Centenary Lecture Series, in the honor of the solemn occasion of Human Rights Day, we are proud to have with us an intriguing personality from this domain, Ramon Magsaysay Award (also known the Nobel Prize of Asia) winner Dr. Sandeep Pandey. He is an Indian Social Activist and the co-founder of Asha for Education. Asha for Education is a registered non-profit organization, founded in 1991 and working with the motto of Bringing Hope through Education. His idea of education is based on empowerment by imbibing the spirit of cooperation instead of competition.

An impactful personality in life and a humble man at heart, he never ceases to raise his voice against corruption. He leads the National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM), the largest network of grassroots of people’s movements in India. A doctorate in Control Theory at the University of California Berkeley, he is an alumnus of the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, currently known as Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi.
