PEC Centenary Lecture Series I Guest Speaker Dr. Jyotsna Dhawan
C.S. Lewis once said, "Friendship is unnecessary like philosophy, like art it has no survival value rather it is one of those things that give value to survival."
The year 2020 will be remembered as an unpredictable year when we remade how we structure our lives and interact with each other. Friendship is not a word but an emotion in itself. Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.
Commemorating the ‘Centenary of Iconic PEC Alumnus Satish Dhawan’ concurrent to the Centenary of Punjab Engineering College as an institution, we welcome you with the thirteenth edition of the PCLS. With immense vitality, we are honored to host Dr. Jyotsna Dhawan.
The day 21st February has been specially designated for the first 'Satish Dhawan Memorial Oration', as it is the birth date of another iconic PU alumnus from Lahore, namely Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar.
Dr. Jyotsna Dhawan is an Emeritus Scientist at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and a Visiting Professor at Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem). She completed her postgraduate in Botany from Delhi University in 1983 and attained her doctoral degree from Boston University in the year 1991. She did not stop here and accomplished her postdoctoral fellowship from Stanford University; Myoblast-mediated gene therapy under Dept. of Molecular Pharmacology in 1990-95 and Muscular dystrophy under Dept. of Neurology and Neurological Sciences in 1995-96. Her research is focused on adult stem cell function and skeletal muscle regeneration.
Dr. Jyotsna Dhawan will be articulating the theme “ Satish Dhawan: Chance and Friendship in the Arc of a Life” on 21st February 2021 live on PEC’s Official Youtube Channel. So mark your calendars and save your seat for a truly enriching experience.
