Mr. Suresh Chander Jain 12th Sep 1938 - 16th May 2021 Noida PEC/BSc/Civil/1960
Suresh Chander Jain was born on 12th September 1938 inSialkot, Pakistan. He was a very bright student and joined Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh in 1956.
Immediately after Bsc Engg in 1960, did Post graduation in Highway Engineering from the same college PEC in 1961. In 1961, he had a short tenure of 3 months in Pb. PWD Irrigation Deptt.
In Feb. 1962 to July 1962, joined Thapar Institute as Assistant Professor. In July 1962, joined Pb. PWD B & R and rose to the position as Chief Engineer and retired in 1996.
In 1970, went to UK on Commonwealth Scholarship and acquired another Master’s Degree in Traffic and Transportation Planning from the University of Birmingham in 1971 and worked with the Transportation Study Group of Birmingham Corporation before coming back to India in 1972.
In 1975, went to Iraq on deputation to the Ministry of Trade through FAS, Govt. Of India and came back in 1980 for supervising the construction of Silos, Bakeries and Flour Mills.
In 1986, represented Ministry of Transport to attend UNDP sponsored Road Safety Seminar in Bangkok.
In 1994 and 1995 visited Namibia on Commonwealth Assignment for study of use of indigenous building materials for the construction of Low Cost Housing projects.
Got married in Dec. 1962 to Saroj Jain. He has two sons and four grand children, Elder son Vivek Jain was a fighter pilot in IAF and is now a Captain with Vistara and the younger one Vikas Jain after graduating from PEC went to USA, did Masters in Environment Engg, MBA from Yale and is currently Head of Retail and/CPG Strategic Team at Google.
After retirement, he had some wonderful years in Noida in the company of family and friends.
For a few years he had not been keeping good health and passed away peacefully on 16 May 2021.
