Mr. Satinder Vig || PEC 1963|| 8th May 2023

Er Satinder Kumar Vig, Mech graduate ‘63 PEC, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family on May 8, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born on September 1, 1938, and is survived by his daughter Gitanjali Verma, son Tarun Vig, and three beloved grandchildren; Priya Verma, Rishan Vig, and Roman Vig.

Er Satinder was highly accomplished. After completing his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College he was granted admission to the highly prestigious Indian Air Force Training Academy. As an officer in the Air Force he was in charge of complex hydraulic and electrical systems of the MiG-19 fighter jets. 

Eventually migrating to USA, Er Satinder rose to Head of Research, Development and New Products of the largest surgical products and sterilization company in the world and retired with four patents to his name. Er Satinder went on to become published author in retirement, having written his memoirs last year. His book, "Fractured Shadows," can be found on Amazon in multiple languages. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and golf in his spare time. 

Er Satinder loved and cherished his family above all else and was devoted to being a husband, father, and grandfather. Friends and loved ones called him Mr. Optimist for his contagious positivity and unwavering smile.

Er Satinder will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering smile, never give up attitude and his positive and optimistic outlook on life. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on and inspire the hearts of those he loved.

Really grieved to inform sad demise of Er Satinder Vig PEC63 on May 8, 2023. He was gem of a person and close friend and relative of mine. God bless his soul may Rest In Peace and give strength to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss. He was suffering from mouth cancer for few years but exact cause of demise could not be determined. He had been living with his loving and caring son Tarun Vig for the last 14 years in Erie, Boston and California.

Very sorry to learn that our friend Satinder Vig (or Vij) left for his heavenly abode earlier this month. Did not have a chance to see Satinder at all since we graduated, but always used to enjoy his company during our college days. Wish that I knew that he had been living in USA the last few years, so that we might have been able to get together.
