100th Foundation Day Celebration: 9th November 2021

On November 9, 2021, PEC celebrated its 100th anniversary since its inception in 1921. During this glorious journey of 100 years, PEC has evolved and shaped up to be a world-class institute of higher education, nurturing young talent into outstanding alumni and graduate students.

The Centenary Celebrations of PEC began with the inaugural ceremony on 9th November followed by Celebrations held on 16.11.2021 which was graced by Hon’ble President of India, Sh.Ram Nath Kovind and Governor of Punjab and Haryana besides other distinguished guests.

The inaugural ceremony on 9th November was joined by UT Administrator Advisor Sh Dharam Pal, Chairman of Board of Governor Sh Rajendra Gupta,  Technical Education Secretary Sh. S.S Gill.The ceremony began with the inaugural address of the Director, PEC, Dr Baldev Setia. He while addressing the audience expressed his gratitude for working as the Director of PEC in this most important time and bringing into light the vision and future goals of the institute. Dr Baldev Setia reflected upon the institute's rich history and vast heritage.The dignitaries in attendance spoke about PEC and its role in shaping technical education. UT Advisor Dharam Pal mentioned in his address the strong influence of PEC graduates who have held positions that are highly regarded around the world mentioning contributions made by noteworthy graduates like Kalpana Chawla, Professor Satish Dhawan and Vandi Verma. As he recalled his time at the institute, he emphasized that it was a great honour for him to be part of this historic moment and part of this institute. Subsequently, the Chairman of Board of Governor, Sh. Rajendra Gupta's in his speech talked about PEC raising bar for technical education and research continously and highlighted the importance of PEC in the northern region. He praised the institute and its capabilities to serve the country.

Finally, technical Education secretary S.S. Gill praised about the PEC's contribution to Chandigarh in terms of research and technology, especially during Covid 19. A cake-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate this significant day, after which the main guests raised festive balloons.The event was attended by Faculty,  Staff and student representatives with full enthusiasm under strict COVID-19 protocols.
